Welcome to Fairmount Fire Department

The 100% Volunteer Protective Company #1 of the Fairmount Fire Department was formed in 1942 to cover the rapidly growing southeastern portion of The Town of Camillus. Located inside of Onondaga County in Central New York, Fairmount is located five miles west of the City of Syracuse, and is a proud member of Onondaga County's Western Section Line Officers Association. Being a suburb of Syracuse, Fairmount is a densely populated area consisting of single family homes, numerous multi-family apartment complexes, and several large Industrial and commercial business zones. Rt. 5 Bypass Signal 80

Saturday, May 9, 2009
-
5/9/09 - 15:46 Hours. As a heavy rainstorm arrived in the Camillus area, Fairmount was activated for a fire alarm activation at the "Church of the Bells" on Kasson Road. As Fairmount Chiefs were investigating, and Engine 4 was en route to the scene, Fairmount was activated for a Signal 80 Rollover, Eastbound on the Route 5 bypass, reporting two vehicles off the highway, with at least one rolled over. With the Fire Alarm being cleared as a false trip, Engine 4 diverted to the Signal 80, along with all 3 FFD Chiefs. As units entered the highway WAVES Car 1 was arrived and advised units that this would be Eastbound just shy of the Warners Road overpass, with two vehicles off the highway about 100 feet, down an enbankment. Car 1, 3, and E4 arrived and initiated patient care to the victims who had all self extricated themselves. Rescue 1 arrived a short time after and assisted. A total of 6 patients were evaluated by FFD and WAVES with 5 patients being refusals and 1 transported. FFD assisted WAVES in packaging the victim and used a pulley system and stokes basket to get the patient up the embankment to the waiting ambulance.

Units cleared within 30 minutes.
