The Fairmount Fire Department is always looking for volunteers. We are a 100% Volunteer Fire Department. If you are interested in volunteering stop by the firehouse Tuesday Evenings between 7:00 PM and 9:00 PM, or Wednesdays from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM to obtain information.
Our members train is every Tuesday Evening at 7:00 PM, and various other days based on scheduling.
We have members with a wide range of backgrounds and experience levels. There are many roles inside the Fire Department that help out the community that you live and work in. No previous experience is necessary.
The Fairmount Fire Department has a very intense internal training program that consists of various topics that are instructed by our very own Firematic Officers. These individuals are highly trained, and experienced.
There are many positions and many courses that Onondaga County, New York State, as well as the Federal Government offer for training. These range from an apparatus operator, hazardous materials technician, interior firefighter, exterior firefighter, emergency medical technician, paramedic, safety officer, vehicle extrication, and more.
If you decide to volunteer, it is at no cost to you. Fairmount will provide your protective gear, uniform, pager, and the training that you desire. Training possibilities are endless.
There are several benefits besides the satisfaction of helping your neighbors and making a difference in people's lives. We offer a fitness center, members lounge, kitchen area, a yearly State Income Tax credit, social events, yearly family picnic, parades, firefighter sports team activities such as pushball, and races. |
